The Challenge
For this UX Hackathon, we expanded IKEA's sell-back program by redesigning the current online store. We were tasked with adding new features for customers to easily browse, list, see the missing parts and purchase second-hand furniture online (without visiting a local store). The goal was to streamline the process of giving furniture a second life, ensuring scalability and user-friendliness.
Problem / Solution Overview
IKEA’s sell-back program is part of a promise and purpose to become a more circular and sustainable business. By purchasing and offering second-hand products, IKEA presents a way for customers to give their furniture a second-life. With this project, we aim to make the program even more convenient and environmentally-friendly.

“How might we streamline and enhance the IKEA BuyBack and secondhand buying processes to be quicker, easier, more accessible, and educational, while aligning with IKEA’s goals and interests?”
